This consultation is on Blaby District Council's Draft Local Validation Checklist for Planning Applications.
The Local Validation Checklist sets out information that must be submitted to support planning applications. It helps ensure applications contain the necessary information needed to allow us to validate and assess the planning application.
You can view the Draft Local Validation Checklist here: [insert link].
The list is divided into two sections, the national validation requirements and the local validation requirements. The national requirements are set by central government and are the same across all Local Planning Authorities in England. The local validation requirements relate specifically to planning applications submitted to Blaby District Council. Applications which do not include the relevant information set out within the local or national list will not be treated as a valid submission.
This consultation only considers the local validation lists. We are seeking feedback to ensure the list requirements are clear and easy to understand, proportionate to the type of development and fit for purpose, and supported by national and local policy. Your views will help us make sure our guidance is as clear and user-friendly as possible, helping to shape a planning service that works effectively for applicants, agents and the wider community.
The consultation will run for six weeks from Thursday 29 October until 11.59pm on Thursday 10 December 2026.
