Help Identify Knowledge Gaps in Irish Peatland Research
Stakeholder survey
Thank you for agreeing to participate in this survey aimed at identifying knowledge gaps in Irish peatland research. This survey is for anyone with an interest in Ireland’s peatlands or involved in any aspect of peatland management, restoration and conservation.
Peat Hub Ireland is a 1-year project funded by the Irish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) which aims to collate and synthesise evidence for the sustainable management of Irish peatlands. Despite their importance, peatlands face significant pressures due to human activities, such as drainage for agriculture, forestry, and peat extraction. These activities lead to peatland degradation, resulting in greenhouse gas emissions, loss of biodiversity, and altered hydrological regimes. Sustainable management is essential to mitigate negative impacts and ensure long-term ecological, economic, social and cultural benefits.
It is crucial to understand existing knowledge gaps in peatland research and management to guide future research efforts, inform policy decisions and ensure an equitable transition to sustainability. This survey aims to collect your insights and experiences to identify these knowledge gaps across sectors and contribute to the equitable advancement of peatland management, conservation and restoration.
Your participation in this survey is voluntary, and all responses are anonymous and used for research purposes only. Please read the Privacy Notice for more information on how this data will be used. This survey takes around 10 minutes to complete.
