Thank you for your interest in helping us understand potential barriers to coming forward for help within the Royal Air Force (RAF) community.

We are particularly interested in recruiting partners of those who are currently serving as we would value hearing your experiences.
 
What is the purpose of this project?

To understand the barriers that exist to help-seeking behaviours in the RAF and to identify recommendations to address these barriers. The survey will provide data on the current welfare needs of currently serving personnel, veterans and partners of those currently serving, the support systems individuals use if they are experiencing a welfare need and if help was sought for any welfare need. We will also use the data to identify eligible participants for a 1-hour long interview to discuss their experiences in greater detail.

Do I have to take part, and can I change my mind?
No, you do not need to take part. This questionnaire should take no more than two minutes to complete. Please note, that completing this questionnaire is voluntary. As the survey data is anonymous you will not be able to withdraw your data after completing the survey.

How will this data be stored?
This data will be stored electronically on a password protected Middlesex University OneDrive Folder, and will only be assessible by the research team.

What will happen to the results of the research study?
The results of the research study will be used as part of a report to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.  The results may also be presented at conferences or in journal articles.  However, the data will only be used by members of the research team to and at no point will your personal information or data be revealed.

Who has reviewed the study?
The study has received full ethical clearance from the Research ethics committee who reviewed the study.  The committee is the Social Work and Mental Health Ethics Sub-committee (reference- 21856) and the Ministry of Defence Ethics Committee (reference-2199/MODREC/22)
