The Charity Commission are consulting on a new approach to the Annual Return (AR) and propose increasing the number of questions. This would impact on all Charities with an income over £10,000 and all Charitable Incorporated Organisations, regardless of income. You can a find a list of the proposed questions here.
At NCVO, we recognise the value of transparency in driving trust in our sector. We are also supportive of the Charity Commission using data to design its support and regulatory approach. However, we recognise the importance of proportionality and the scarce time and resource available across the charity sector.
We encourage organisations to submit their own responses. In addition, NCVO will submit a response to the consultation, which will identify issues that cut across the sector. The consultation closes on 1st September. Please help us by completing this survey to let us know what you think. You don’t have to answer every question. This survey is for anyone who helps to submit their organisations annual return – this could be a trustee or staff member.
