Development of a Core Outcome Set for Exercise Interventions for Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy

A brief explanation of key concepts in this project.
What is CIPN?
- Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common side effect of chemotherapy that damages the nerves, leading to symptoms such as pain, numbness, tingling, and altered sensation in the hands and feet.
What is a Core Outcome Set?
- A Core Outcome Set is an agreed-upon set of core outcomes which all studies examining exercise programmes for CIPN should measure. This would mean that researchers would be able to compare and combine results from multiple studies to get a clear picture of how effective exercise is for the treatment of CIPN.
What is the aim of this study?
- Researchers are investigating whether exercise can help treat CIPN, but studies currently measure different outcomes, making it difficult to compare results. To overcome this challenge, we want to develop a Core Outcome Set, to make it easier to compare results and determine if exercise helps CIPN or not.
How does this work?
- This is a multi-round Delphi survey.
- You will complete at least 2 online surveys.
- Each survey will take approximately 20 minutes.
- You will rate how important you feel each outcome is when measuring the effect of exercise on CIPN.
- Surveys will be completed 4–8 weeks apart.
- You will recieve an email reminder before the second survey.
- Additional rounds of the survey may happen if required.
On what scale do I rate?
- You can rate how important each outcome is to you on a scale of 1-5.
- 1 = Extremely unimportant
2 = Unimportant
3 = Unsure
4 = Important
5 = Extremely important
What should I consider when rating outcomes?
- You should rate how important you think each outcome is when measuring the effect of exercise on CIPN.
- In other words, what matters most to you when deciding if the exercise intervention is reducing the signs and symptoms of CIPN?
Please rate each outcome by how important it is to you.
